From Handmade Ecommerce to Creative Web Studio
Before founding my Creative Web Studio, and after I finished teaching high school across Visual Arts, English, History and Geography: I ran my own handmade ecommerce, small-batch sewing size inclusive womenswear and matching kids outfits.
I would’ve loved to trust a service provider with my online presence while I focussed on sewing custom-made, colourful dresses and activewear.
But the truth was – I was better at digital marketing without paid ads, rather than small-batch sewing!
Because as soon as I was sick, or my kid was sick…I couldn’t guarantee processing times.
And that’s the hard part about physical product retail, plus having kids.
And then, like many stories, COVID happened.
Life is Made of Many Lessons; Live All Of Them
I don’t believe in doing one thing all your life: except for learning.
Some lessons are harder to learn than others.
I found it hard to let go of my handmade ecommerce; but I still enjoy sewing for myself, and collaborating with fabric and sewing pattern companies as part of my creative suite of services.
And over your life, you’ll have many jobs and loves, many passions and hobbies. And you’ll have hard lessons to learn – some, very unwillingly.
And from each one, you’ll learn more about yourself, what you actually love and care for, and be able to do more for the world around you too.
