Not-For-Profit Squarespace Web Design – Diversity Practitioners Association

Squarespace Web Design for Brisbane Not-For-Profit

Diversity Practitioners Association (DPA) is the professional not-for-profit membership for Diversity Practitioners in Australia that needed to optimise their Squarespace website’s accessibility, visual design and SEO.

They reached out for a Brisbane Squarespace Web Designer who could also refresh their existing website to be branded professionally for DPA, and more accessible for all users in 2025.

Not-for-profit associations are run by a volunteer committee who have their own full-time positions as well, so having transparent project management via my client portal for the committee to track dates, tasks, and files, while offering a variety of communication across email, phone and virtual group meetings worked for DPA’s committee.

A laptop sits on a desk displaying a video conference with 4 woman of diverse ethnicities. The woman are smiling and engaged in the conversation with Kira Hansen, brown woman, who sits in the foreground of the image.
Larger web design projects include virtual meetings for revision rounds, especially when working with not-for-profit organisations.

Upgrading Squarespace to Version 7.1 For Increasing Membership Options & Functionality

Diversity Practitioners Association Project Goals:

After our Discovery Call session, we dove into DPA’s values and visual identity to carry their ethos of growth and support through challenges, sharing knowledge and experience, and learning through connections.

This website was pre-existing on Squarespace, but not upgraded to Version 7.1 which uses Squarespace’s Fluid Engine. This is an excellent website builder for small and limited ecommerce because of it’s user-friendly drag and drop functionality, and responsive design access for laptop and mobile phone use (tablet and phone screen sizes usually require further custom coding).

By upgrading their Version to 7.1 and implementing DPA’s refreshed visual identity, web design and SEO copywriting across their website, DPA’s committee will be able to continue updating their site as they grow their members and resources.

Using DPA’s provided logos, we updated their visual identity and design to reflect core values of education, growth and inclusion

This project included new copywriting and calls to action as well as additional content to further their diversity, equity and inclusion values with a very accessible price for new and renewing members.

Add-on services included setting up their new Australian domain with our new domain services: diversitypractitionersassociation.com.au to redirect to their main .com version, and secure both domains for their organisation.

Diversity Practitioners Association felt relieved to have multiple web services provided by a local woman-owned Web Studio, across Squarespace web design, branding, copywriting, accessibilty and SEO

Is Squarespace the Platform For Your Not-For-Profit Organisation?

When considering Squarespace for your organisation’s website platform, keep in mind the needs of your non-profit as you grow and scale in the future.

If your non-profit provides product ecommerce with a huge amount of inventory and processing a high amount of product orders – I recommend looking at Shopify instead of Squarespace as a robust system for mass product management.

For membership and resource access, with blogging capability, and limited amount of products (or none like DPA), then Squarespace may be your match for a balanced website platform for social enterprises and not-for-profits that is easy to use and update over time.
